You will need spending money in Nicaragua to buy snacks, bottled water, and possible souvenirs. The currency in Nicaragua is the Cordoba. A recent exchange rate is 24.50 Cordobas to 1 US dollar. This figure fluctuates and it is best to ask the missionary or leader of your group for help getting your money exchanged. US dollars can be exchanged in country however the bills need to be clean, meaning they can not have rips or stamps on them. It is recommended that you ask your bank for new bills to avoid problems. Do not flash your money in public as this can provoke a  potential theft.
